Warm, comfortable, and above all, peaceful!

Sitting next to the nature loving owners house, the main aspect of the cottage is not overlooked, and has stunning direct views out across the River Isla and up the glen towards the Cairngorm Mountains.

Glenisla View has been thoughtfully restored and furnished to offer everything you need for a genuinely restorative stay. Nothing has been overlooked — from the wood burning stove and the well equipped kitchen, to the private hot tub.

Small in stature, it offers everything most guests need. Whilst open plan, the cottage is very well insulated, so with the central heating and the easy to use wood burner, you won't be cold.

The cottage is set in an enclosed space, with parking for two cars and room to manoeuvre.  An untethered Type 2 EV charger is for the guests use only, and is paid for directly via GuestCharge after scanning a QR code which can be found in the cottage.

We do have a travel cot for those guests with babes in arms.

We are fully dog friendly, and whilst we advertise up to two dogs allowed, we will consider more.

The sitting area

A wood burner can be lit for cosy winter evenings in, cooler summer evenings, or simply because you want to! The first basket of logs is supplied along with kindling and firelighters. Further logs can be bought by messaging the Glenisla View phone. This number will be supplied with your arrival pack.

If you are not familiar with wood burners, instructions are in the Cottage Information folder.

There is a Smart TV and DVD player with a selection of DVDs to watch.

A DAB radio which can also be used as a Bluetooth speaker.

The Kitchen

The well-equipped kitchen has everything you need for long, leisurely evenings in, either warming up a pizza or cooking a gastronomic delight. A full-size fridge/freezer enables you to store all your perishables.

There is a microwave oven and the main oven is electric and has an air fryer function (Ninja air fryer also available on request). A dishwasher takes care of your dirty dishes, once loaded and switched on!

Otherwise, all the usual suspects can be found, and anything else can be requested and made available, if possible. Basics of salt, pepper, vegetable oil and some herbs will be in the cupboard for your use.

A washer/dryer can be found in the hallway cupboard.

A pint of whole milk, tea bags, granular coffee and sugar will allow you to get a hot drink and relax before you have to unpack!

As we are 20 minutes’ drive from the nearest small supermarket in Alyth, we advise you to bring your food items with you. The local Glenisla Hotel is open for food from Wednesday through to Sunday and is 3 miles drive from the cottage.

The bedroom

This is the room most loved by our guests. Soft lighting ensures a peaceful retreat from the world. The added bonus is that you can lie or sit in the comfortable bed and gaze at the wonderful view that opens up the glen, and the Cairngorm mountains beyond. All who visit say that photographs do not do it justice.

There is ample storage for your clothes, excellent quality bed linen, large soft towels, robes and slippers. There are feature antler bedside lamps, made from locally sourced red deer antlers. The stags 'cast' these each year so are available for recycling.

Our summer sun set is very late and the sun rises early, so the blackout curtains ensure a deep, unhurried sleep.

A large wall map of the area gives you an idea of where to explore and how to get there.

This is only suitable for 2 adults sharing, not accompanied by children. We will accept babes in arms and can supply a travel cot if needed.

The viewing area

In the bedroom, there are two lovely Ikea Poang chairs, covered with super soft sheepskin, allowing for bird or wildlife watching, while gazing at the view in complete comfort.

This is the window - not a picture! -------------------->>>>>>

The bathroom

The double walk in shower features an etched glass shower screen.

The shower itself has a standard adjustable shower head and a rain shower head also (for those of us who do not always want to get our hair wet!).

An illuminated mirror above the sink has an integrated shaver socket. The vanity unit has a small cupboard for storage.

Quality toilet tissue is supplied.

NB we are not on mains sewerage so please only put the supplied toilet tissue into the toilet – no sanitary products or wet wipes, even if they say they are flushable. Sanitary disposal pouches are supplied.

Outside area

The table and chairs on the decking area give you the opportunity to eat al fresco, to savour the views across the river and over to the mountains beyond.

The outdoor space is made up of a grassed area and a gravel area.

Two sun loungers enable you to make full use of the sun, and yes, we do have sun here!

The perimeter is fenced with wire to discourage canine escapees.

There is also a BBQ for guest use with the first bag of charcoal free of charge.

The Hot Tub

Outside you will find an electric hot tub with the most magnificent Scottish views – in our opinion! It is positioned to take in that view, which may have been mentioned before.

At night there are a variety of light colours to choose from if you don't want to star gaze. Dedicated hot tub towels are provided.

If you are lucky enough, you may see the Northern Lights which we see at some point every year. If interested, it is worth getting an aurora watch app to give you a heads up.

Most photographs that you see on the internet look stunning, with deep colours. These are enhanced by the camera. In reality by eye, you do see light pillars, a greenish glow and a red hue. This is still intensely magical to observe.
